Ladies pre-season: Chelsea 2-2 Rosengard

The Blues played out an entertaining draw against one of Sweden's top sides in our latest pre-season friendly, with Karen Carney and Katie Chapman on the scoresheet.

Emma Hayes's charges came up against stiff opposition in the form of a club who are Champions League regulars and preparing for a quarter-final in the competition against Barcelona.

Lotta Schelin gave the visitors the lead with virtually the first chance of the match, but Chelsea responded well and Crystal Dunn looked our most likely source of a goal in the opening 45 minutes as she went close on three occasions. However, the half ended with Rosengard threatening a second and Marta saw her shot hit the post.

The Blues began the second half strongly when Hannah Blundell forced the goalkeeper into a fine save from close range, and we had an even better opportunity when Claire Rafferty was brought down in the box for a penalty. However, Carney's spot-kick was brilliantly turned onto the post by the goalkeeper.

The England midfielder brilliantly made amends soon after as she volleyed home from Rafferty's cross after Dunn had been denied, and the Blues went ahead a few minutes later courtesy of a Chapman strike from the edge of the box after being teed up by the American international.

There was a late twist, though, as Rosengard levelled late on through Ella Masar McLeod after the Blues half cleared a corner, and so it was honours even at Carshalton FC.

Next up is a winter training camp in Portugal which concludes with a friendly against Danish side Foruna Hjorring on Friday at 4pm.
