Ampadu up for PL2 award

Academy defender Ethan Ampadu has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August.
The 16-year-old signed as a scholar from Exeter City in July and has played every minute of our development squad league campaign to date, contributing to shutouts against Manchester City and Derby County. The young Blues currently sit sixth in the table after four points from their opening three matches.
Ampadu is up against Kyle Edwards (West Brom), Hamza Choudhury (Leicester), Joe Nuttall (Blackburn), George Williams (Fulham), Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough), Kellan Gordon (Derby) and Reiss Nelson (Arsenal). The shortlist was selected by a panel of the Premier League Football Development Department after PL2 managers had nominated the best individual performance from each of their opponents during August. The panel will also choose the winner.
The teenager recently received a maiden call-up to the senior Welsh national side and could make his debut in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Austria tomorrow (Saturday) or Moldova next Tuesday.
Our development squad are next in action on Saturday 9 September when they take on Sunderland at Cobham.
