Internationals: Victories for Hazard, Courtois and Kante

Eden Hazard played 77 minutes, scored and provided an assist in Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar on Thursday evening.

He along with Thibaut Courtois started the 9-0 home victory and Hazard was one of the first to create a chance. It did not take long for the Red Devils to take the lead through an own-goal and it was Hazard who netted from close-range on the stroke of half-time to make the score 6-0 at the interval.

The earlier names on the scoresheet were Thomas Meunier, Romelu Lukaku twice and Axel Witsel, who was also sent-off on 40 minutes.

Hazard crossed for Meunier to make it 7-0 on the hour and the Paris St-Germain player then completed his hat-trick with Lukaku also scoring a third from the penalty spot. Hazard was replaced by brother Thorgan. Michy Batshuayi was an unused sub.

Belgium lead their qualification group.

N’Golo Kante played for France in their 4-0 qualification win over the Netherlands. The goals came early and late in the match, Antoine Griezmann with the first in the first half and in the second half, Thomas Lemar scored two with Kylian Mbappe completing the scoring in stoppage time. Kurt Zouma remained on the bench and Marco van Ginkel was an unused sub for the Dutch.

France also lead their group.
