UEFA Youth League fixtures confirmed

Fixture dates and venues have been confirmed as our Under-19s prepare to return to the UEFA Youth League, with games scheduled for the afternoon on each of our Champions League matchdays.

Joe Edwards takes charge of the young Blues as they return to the competition they won in 2015 and then successfully defended in 2016 under the stewardship of Adi Viveash. Despite those successes, we were unable to participate last season due to our absence from the Champions League.

The youngsters will begin with a Cobham contest against their counterparts from Qarabag next month before travelling to the Spanish capital to take on Atletico Madrid and then facing a double-header against AS Roma.

We met both Atletico and Roma in the 2014/15 knockout round, beating the Spaniards 2-0 at Cobham before a 4-0 victory against the Italians in Nyon in the semi-final. Our away fixture in Rome will be held at the 4,000-capacity Stadio Tre Fontane, while our matchday five meeting with Qarabag is at the Azersun Arena in Baku, which holds almost 6,000 spectators.

The fixtures in full are outlined below. Please note, all kick-offs are local times and spectators will not be admitted to games at Cobham.

The group winners advance directly to the last-16, while the runners-up face an away play-off round tie against those progressing through the domestic champions path.

There have also been changes to the PL2 schedule with the venues for our meetings with Arsenal switched. We will now host the Gunners at Aldershot Town on Saturday 28 October, kick-off 1pm. The away fixture will take place on Friday 2 March at Boreham Wood, kick-off 7.05pm.
