Team train before flying south

N’Golo Kante has taken part in the final training session prior to the squad travelling to Italy for the Champions League group stage game against Roma.

The midfielder has not played since coming off in a France international at the beginning of the month and missed the past five Chelsea games, including the 3-3 draw in our home meeting with the Serie A side.

On Saturday Antonio Conte was asked if Kante could be back for the trip to the Italian capital, where a win in tomorrow’s game would send the Blues through to the knockout stage.

‘I hope so. He could be ready,’ he responded. ‘I know very well the importance of this player. I want to be sure he is ready. I hope to have him in this game, but I prefer to not take this type of risk. If he is ready, he plays.’

On a clear, crisp morning at Cobham, Conte took today’s training with Kante involved. Victor Moses remains absent due to a hamstring injury.

The squad flies to Rome this afternoon and Conte and one of the players will speak at a media conference at the Stadio Olimpico this evening at 6pm UK time.
