Under-19s prepare for Italian job

Our youngsters continue their UEFA Youth League campaign against Roma this afternoon, with Cobham the venue for a 1pm kick-off streamed live on UEFA.com.

Joe Edwards’s side sit top of Group C following 5-0 and 3-1 victories against Qarabag and Atletico Madrid respectively, the latter win in the Spanish capital establishing a three-point gap between the young Blues and the chasing pack. The group winners in the UEFA Youth League advance directly to the last-16, while the runners-up face an away play-off against a side from the domestic champions pathway.

Chelsea Under-19s are unbeaten in European competition since November 2014, a run of 17 matches, and have won their last six. However, Roma will provide tricky opposition after progressing from the group stage in each of the past three seasons.

Our previous meeting with the Italian youngsters came in the semi-final of the 2014/15 edition of the competition when second-half goals from Charlie Colkett, Tammy Abraham and a Dominic Solanke brace handed Adi Viveash’s side a 4-0 victory. We went on to beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 in the final three days later for the first of our back-to-back European titles.

The latest contest between the two sides takes place at Cobham this afternoon, with live coverage streamed on the UEFA website. Unfortunately, spectators are not admitted entry to games at the training ground. There will be updates throughout the afternoon on our official Twitter @chelseafc.

Chelsea TV will screen highlights this evening at 11pm and a full 90-minute re-run of the game tomorrow (Thursday) at 9am.
