Women’s Internationals: Big wins for table-toppers

Chelsea Ladies forward Erin Cuthbert played a part as Scotland Women continued their winning start to the 2019 World Cup qualification campaign.

The 19-year-old came on after 65 minutes of a 5-0 win over Albania in Paisley, their first home match with former Arsenal Ladies manager Shelley Kerr in charge.

Scotland top their group with six points out of six which is the same total as Sweden have in their group. That is after another 5-0 home win, theirs over Hungary with Hedvig Lindahl keeping a clean sheet. Magda Eriksson was an unused sub.

Norway however lost 1-0 away at European champions The Netherlands. Maren Mjelde had the misfortune of a penalty saved when the game was goalless. The deciding goal came after three minutes of added time. Maria Thorisdottir was in the Norwegian defence but despite the defeat, her side still top their group having won their opening two fixtures.
