Cahill: Recapturing our form

Gary Cahill says the Blues must put together another sequence of victories in order to close the gap on those teams above us, starting tonight when we travel to Huddersfield Town.

Antonio Conte’s side head to the John Smith’s Stadium aiming to get back to winning ways following a first Premier League reverse since mid-October at West Ham on Saturday.

Prior to the weekend, the Blues had been in fine form, and with so many matches still to play in December, Cahill believes we can find that rhythm once again.

‘We have to beat Huddersfield to get things back on track,’ the captain tells the official Chelsea website. ‘Before the weekend we’d won six and drawn one from our previous seven Premier League games, so we were very disappointed with the result because the way we’d been going was good, it was a blow for us.

‘We have a chance to respond tonight, we still feel as though we have some good fixtures coming up in December, everybody knows it’s a big schedule for every team but we’re confident we can come out of it and be heading into January in a good place.

‘We can’t change what happened on Saturday, it’s done now, so we’re just looking forward to putting another run together.’

Kasey Palmer, on loan at Huddersfield from Stamford Bridge, is ineligible to feature tonight for David Wagner’s side, who are currently 12th in the Premier League table.

The hosts will go into the game in confident mood following a 2-0 win over Brighton on Saturday, and their displays against some of the teams at the top of the league means we will need to be at our best in order to secure all three points.

‘They’ve been very good at home and they’ve proved to be a difficult opponent for some big sides,’ says Cahill.

‘I’m expecting the type of atmosphere where their fans are excited about Chelsea coming to town and they will maybe be even louder than usual because they want to cause an upset, like they did against Manchester United and almost did against Man City.

‘At this moment in time they’re the top two sides in the league and Huddersfield put up a great performance against both of them so we need to be concentrated and wary because they’re a very difficult side to play against at their ground.'
