Pedro: Team work pays off

It was Pedro who put Chelsea three goals to the good midway through the first half of what was ultimately a 5-0 victory against Stoke, and he said it was the speed of our start that made it so difficult for our opponents.

The indicators were good for the Blues going into our final game of 2017. We had won our previous six home league games, Stoke had not tasted victory away in two months and they had first-choice defenders missing. All went to plan when Toni Rudiger and Danny Drinkwater put us 2-0 up inside 10 minutes.

‘The game was very good, the team played very good,’ said Pedro, ‘and to score the two goals in nine minutes was very good for us to help us play, to have more confidence on the pitch, and these three points were very important for us.

‘It was very difficult for Stoke because 3-0 in 23 minutes, it was good for us creating a lot of chances and playing with a good mentality - and the most important thing was the team work and the goals and the three points.’

Next for Chelsea is a Premier League London derby away from home on Wednesday and although Pedro said it is good for the players to have a few days of recovery and preparation time, he added:

‘But it is a difficult game for us, always against Arsenal it is a really tough game. We will prepare very well for it and I hope for the win but it will be difficult.’
