Loan highlights

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Mason Mount (pictured) scored the winner for Vitesse Arnhem in a 2-1 victory at Zwolle, with Fankaty Dabo and Matt Miazga also starting for Vitesse. Marco van Ginkel lined up for PSV Eindhoven in a 2-0 win at FC Twente, a result which moved them eight points clear at the top of the table.

In the FA Cup fourth round, Michael Hector and Ola Aina started at the back for Hull City who beat Nottingham Forest 2-1. Jeremie Boga came on for Birmingham City as they drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town and Ike Ugbo played for MK Dons, who were beaten 1-0 by Coventry City.

There were several players in Football League action this weekend, including Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon who both started for Fulham in their 3-1 win against 10-man Barnsley, a result which moves them into the Championship play-off places. The Cottagers scored two goals in stoppage time at the end of the game to take three points against the Bantams, who had defender Dimitri Cavare sent off just before the interval.

In League Two, Bradley Collins was in goal for Forest Green Rovers’ 1-0 defeat at Carlisle, with fellow shot-stopper Nathan Baxter winning 1-0 in Woking’s National League fixture with Fylde. Baxter also played in a 1-1 draw against Gateshead last Tuesday, when Jordan Houghton started as Doncaster drew by the same scoreline against Scunthorpe courtesy of an equaliser six minutes into stoppage time.

Victorien Angban was in action twice for Waasland Beveren in the Belgian top flight as they drew both their games 2-2, at Anderlecht on Wednesday and against Waregem on Saturday evening. In the Turkish Super Lig, Kenneth Omeruo played for Kasimpasa on Friday night as they were beaten 2-1 by Besiktas.

The week ahead

A busy January ends on Wednesday with a home fixture in the Premier League against Bournemouth, kick-off 7.45pm, with the January transfer window also closing that night at 11pm.

Before then, we will discover who we face in the fifth round of the FA Cup when the draw takes place this evening at approximately 7.20pm. Number 15 is the Chelsea ball.

By then the development squad will have kicked off their PL2 game away to Everton. That is live on Chelsea TV with a 7pm start. Joe Edwards’ side are also in action at home this week when they host Leicester at Aldershot in the same competition on Friday. Again that is on Chelsea TV with kick-off at 7.05pm.

There are two fixtures too for Chelsea Ladies including the massive top-of-the-table clash at home to Manchester City on Thursday. Kick-off at Kingsmeadow is 7pm and that match is live on BT Sport. On Sunday there is a Women’s FA Cup tie away to London Bees at 2pm, the two clubs’ development teams playing at the same venue, the Hive, beforehand. That game starts at 12 noon.

The Under-18s play away at Arsenal on Saturday, kick-off 11am.
