Under-18s handed away Cup draw

Our youngsters will face Everton away in the semi-finals of the inaugural Under-18 Premier League Cup following today’s draw.

Jody Morris’s side needed extra-time to advance past Sunderland in the last-eight at the weekend, with Juan Castillo’s goal sending them through with a 2-1 victory. In the group stage, they finished top after wins against Brighton and Newcastle.

The Toffees were also group winners and beat Fulham 2-0 in the quarter-finals three days ago. It will be the first meeting between the sides at the youth team age group since March 2016, when Joe Edwards’s side won 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Dujon Sterling.

The tie is scheduled to take place on Saturday 17 February at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground, kick-off 11am. Tottenham will host Arsenal in the other Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, there have been date changes for two of our upcoming fixtures in the Under-18 Premier League. The young Blues are currently top of the southern section, six points clear of second-place Arsenal, who they were due to face away this weekend. However, the Gunners are in FA Youth Cup action at Middlesbrough on Friday so our trip to north London has been rearranged to Wednesday 7 March.

Our next assignment at home to Swansea City has also been altered, with the Welshmen now visiting Cobham on Friday 9 February. They will be the latest side to test our remarkable unbeaten home record, which now stands at 51 matches and 33 months. Kick-off remains at 1.15pm.
