Youth Cup: Quarter-final at the Cottage

The defence of our FA Youth Cup title continues with a short trip to Fulham in the quarter-finals next week.

Jody Morris’s side have advanced to the last-eight in flawless fashion, knocking out Scunthorpe United, West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham with an aggregate score of 13-0. The young Blues are one of just two Premier League sides left in the competition, along with Arsenal, following a campaign of early shocks and upsets.

Fulham have been responsible for dispatching two top-flight opponents, winning at Huddersfield on penalties in round three before a 2-0 victory at Swansea City. They booked a place in the quarter-finals by beating Plymouth Argyle in the last round, the Pilgrims having orchestrated Manchester City’s exit earlier in the competition.

Craven Cottage will host the tie next Tuesday 27 February, kick-off 7.05pm. Supporters wishing to attend can purchase tickets either in advance or on the door priced at £4 for adults and £1 for concessions. Chelsea TV will also broadcast the action live.

The winners of the west London derby will advance to a two-legged semi-final against either Norwich City or Birmingham City.

In other youth team fixture news, our Under-18 Premier League trip to Fulham has been brought forward. Originally scheduled for Saturday 24 February, our visit to Motspur Park will now take place this Friday 23 February, kick-off 6.30pm. Morris's men are six points clear at the top of the southern section, while the Cottagers sit in fifth.

-Elsewhere in the Academy, Adebambo Akinjogbin has left the club after his short-term contract expired at the end of last month. The 18-year-old spent the first half of the campaign training with our youngsters and was an unused substitute on a number of occasions. Chelsea wishes Ade well for the future.
