LADIES DAY AT COBHAM
Cobham played host to the first national tournament for female college players with disabilities last week, and our Ladies World Cup winner Lorrie Fair was on hand to help out.
The tournament, sponsored by the National Football Museum and the South London Special League, saw teams from across the region enjoy a day of football and friendship in the Surrey sun.
Lorrie, along with members of the Chelsea Ladies Academy, helped train and support all of the teams on the day, and was impressed at the skill and commitment of all teams in the tournament, which was eventually won by the South London Terriers, edging out the Blues in a penalty shootout.
'It was great to see so many players taking part in this event,' said Lorrie. 'They were so committed to their teams and they were all a great advertisement for ladies football.
'I was really proud of our Chelsea players and the Chelsea disability coaching and Museum staff who made the day so special. I am really looking forward to helping Chelsea, with the National Football Museum, and the SL League develop and promote girls disability football in the future.'
The tournament is just part of series events that are being planned across region to encourage more young adults into disability football. If you are interested in further information on any aspect of Chelsea Disability Programmes please contact Rob Seale at rob.seale@chelseafc.com.
