REFOCUSING IN FEBRUARY
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening - depending on what time of the day you are reading this blog.
I just thought I will start February's blog with an official greeting. You are probably wondering where I am going with this and so am I. To be honest I have no idea and I must admit - nowhere!!!
First of all can I thank everyone who read and commented on the January and CAN 2010 blogs on the Chelsea website. I really enjoyed and appreciate your well wishes, funny comments and kind words.
Some of the words inspire and cheer me up when I am feeling down so I am grateful that you take time out to read and respond. Please keep the comments coming. Some are funny too - like Ahmed from Nigeria who calls me Jackie Chan because in his view I can do the unexpected every time. It made me laugh so much.
The CAN 2010 is over and I think it was a good tournament, especially for Ghana. With all the injuries and withdrawals of our experienced players, most people didn't think we will get to the Final.
However, having been with the team for a week or so, I always knew if we stuck to our game plan we will do well. We rode our luck at times and took our chances when it mattered. Unfortunately we came unstuck in the Final against an experienced Egyptian team but Ghanaians can hold their heads up high because the boys did their best.
You have to give Egypt credit for winning three African Cups in a row and seven in total. That is a massive achievement by any standard.
Back to England and Chelsea, everyone has been working hard to ensure we achieve the aims we set ourselves at the start.
We have a good squad and even with four of us out in Angola, the guys showed we mean business. We had a better January than December and it's credit to everyone at Chelsea.
We know we have to keep working hard to win big trophies and that's what we will be doing for the rest of the season.
I currently have my own training schedule and as I have said in the past, I cannot wait to come back. I was enjoying my football until the injuries kicked in.
I can assure you all that as soon as I am ready and the coach selects me I will make up for lost time. I can't wait to join the other guys on the pitch. Hopefully I can come back like last season and contribute in some shape or form.
February is a big month and I am not only talking about Valentine's Day! It's a month that will define our season because it's the knock out stages of the Champions League and the destination of the Premier League can be shaped. There are more FA Cup games to come as well, so we will need your support home and away and I am sure we can count on you.
Enjoy the month and I look forward to reading your comments.
