REVAMPED CHELSEAFC.COM
Chelsea FC has today (Wednesday, July 2) unveiled a groundbreaking revamp of our official website chelseafc.com as part of the evolution of the platform from its launch 18 months ago.
The new-look site, which uses the traditional Chelsea blue colour following fans' input, is more user-friendly and quicker than the previous versions.
It will include a site search mechanism, driven by Google, and will give every fan the opportunity to personalise their experience on the site. There is also brand new information available including player profiles, comprehensive player stats and multi-image features as well as quick links to the latest ticket and fixture information.
One of the key features of the site is the launch of a user-generated content platform - The Shed - a name chosen by the fans, for the fans and will be the number one online destination for fan-generated content. This will evolve based on their input and to begin with includes chat, blogs, the historic white wall, rumour mill, interactive polls and fan galleries.
The club has engaged with groups of fans during the development process to ensure it is designed specifically with fans in mind and to provide an even more enjoyable experience.
Feature highlights:
Free e-membership where fans can receive regular updates from the club and get access to exclusive content including player interviews, guest columnists and live web-chats.
Multiple viewing possibilities of news stories on the home page
A scrolling fixtures application to keep up to date with forthcoming games as well as details on ticket sales, betting odds, match previews and head-to-head stats.
Bespoke areas of the site for overseas fans as well as five different language sites.
Supporters will also be able to download official desktop widgets relating to the season's match fixtures, official Chelsea TV video and favourite player feeds - all of which can be exported to social networking sites.
Chief executive Peter Kenyon said: 'The evolution of our website highlights the club's continued commitment to providing our global fan base with the very best in online media and reaffirms our dedication to providing content specifically with our supporters in mind. The site will remain the first port of call for all official breaking news from the club.'
The revamp of the website has been developed in partnership between Chelsea Digital Media and Perform, the UK-based digital sport and entertainment specialist. CDM is a joint venture between Chelsea FC and Sky and delivers all of Chelsea's digital channels including Chelsea TV, online and mobile. Chelsea FC has also recently extended our web services deal with Perform until 2010.
