Former Blue Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed as the new manager of MK Dons, and has taken former team-mate and Chelsea youth coach Eddie Newton with him as his assistant.

Eddie had been working as assistant coach of our under-16 side, but has joined the Italian as he embarks on his first managerial role after some years out of the game.

The pair first met in 1996 when the Italian signed as a club record transfer from Lazio, going on to both score in the 1997 FA Cup Final, with Di Matteo breaking another record as he opened the scoring in the first minute. They are pictured celebrating on the Wembley pitch.

Former Chelsea fitness coach Ade Mafe has also signed up with the Buckinghamshire club following Paul Ince's appointment at Blackburn.

Mafe was brought to Stamford Bridge by Ruud Gullit, and stayed until 2004.

We wish them all well in League One.
