Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sharing his thoughts on his first fortnight at the club, and how he sees the weeks ahead in the lead up to the Premier League season.

Speaking after the final training session before we depart for China, the Brazilian expressed his pleasure at how things are going, but admitted there is still a distance to go before the squad is ready for competitive action and the beginning of the league season on August 16.

In two weeks, Scolari and his staff have served up a tough menu for the players, with plenty of running over the first five days before a gradual increase in ball work seen this week.

'My evaluation is that they started to train as a little group, and after three days and more, more players,' he started.

'After three days, even more players, and now in the last four or five days we have all the players in good condition, but still not our best condition.'

He believes after our five pre-season matches that culminate with the Railways Cup in Moscow, that we will see a Chelsea team beginning to take shape.

'Not ready, but starting to build a new team and a new philosophy,' he said, with typical Latin expression.

'This is just the beginning, and I expect after these five games that I will have a general idea about all the players and a system.'

He also compared the typical pre-season regime in his native Brazil to what he has experienced so far in Europe, and reported the variations are quite small.

'It is not too different, because in Brazil they have two weeks maximum to train, and after we have games. Here now is the same, we have two weeks for training and we travel to China to play three games, and then to Russia for two more games.

'The difference is Chelsea gives the best conditions for the players and coaches to train hard, because we have all the best facilities.'
