Hours after touching down in China, Luiz Felipe Scolari has given his first press conference and explained why Didier Drogba remains at home.

Seven hours ahead of UK time, the Brazilian was joined by captain John Terry and goalkeeper Petr Cech, who signed a new five-year deal at the club last week.

Flanked by members of the Guangzhou FA as well as the coach and two players from Guangzhou Pharmaceutical, the Blues trio discussed a range of topics with the predominantly native audience.

On the subject of Drogba, who has been left in England due to a knee injury, Scolari said: 'Didier is injured and the doctor and the medical staff make a plan to recuperate Didier maybe in three weeks, maximum four weeks.

'I think Didier will be training and playing, but in this moment it is impossible for him to follow us in Asia.

'His future is in Chelsea because he has a contract for us, and look, I think he is happy in Chelsea.'

Scolari was equally clear about Frank Lampard, who is part of the travelling party, and very much a part of the manager's plans.

'About Frank, first he is training every day in the morning and afternoon very well. The most important thing is here with us, and no more. He is here with us and training every day very well.

'We are talking every day about Chelsea, what's the best way for Chelsea to play and about the positions that are best for him at times in the games. But not more about anything, only the way Chelsea win games with Lampard.'

Terry also commented on close friend Lampard's situation.

'I am very good friends with Frank and obviously we have spoken. Obviously the players and fans want Frank to stay and hopefully he will,' said the centre-back.

Finally, Cech was able to comment on his new deal, which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2013.

'I am really happy with the fact I can stay here at Chelsea for many more years, and felt as soon as I arrived as part of a big family,' said the 26-year-old.

'Everyone made me feel really welcome and the club has been growing in my heart. During my first years I have had a fantastic time with a lot of support from the club, team-mates and fans, and I am really happy that I can still be a part of this great club.

'We are looking forward to the new season and I hope it is going to be a successful one.'
