After brave defeat last season, Kerry Dixon is back again to take on betting expert Paddy Power in our weekly prediction game.

The rules are the same as 2007/8: both men have £50 to bet on each Chelsea game of the season , with the money they accumulate being totted up as they go.

He who wins the most money by the end of the campaign sees his total donated to our national charity partner CLIC Sargent.

As the underdog this time around, Kerry is up first to discuss our home game with Portsmouth on Sunday.

'Welcome back for the start of another season,' he says. 'Even though it's for charity this is a keen contest and one I'm determined to win this time around, though I'm sure Paddy will be equally keen to renew battle.

'Hopefully we can get the Chelsea fans off to a flying start with my predictions this week, and I am confident of a Blues victory.

'Portsmouth have a poor record at the Bridge, and with Chelsea's ever-impressive defensive record I think it will only be a Chelsea win, with a clean sheet.'

'Therefore my first bet of the season will be £25 each on Chelsea 2-0 and Chelsea 3-0.'

Kerry's Bets

£25 on 2-0 Chelsea at 9/2

£25 on 3-0 Chelsea at 13/2

Paddy is in confident mood after last year's success.

'I thought Kerry might have learnt his lesson last season but if he's up for it so am I.

'I do have an advantage over poor Kerry this week in that I know what Paddy Power's specials are, and to say they are tasty is an understatement. We're offering the best price on all of last season's top four teams winning their games, so I'm going to put £25 on Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea all to win at 7/4.

'That's not all because Paddy Power are also offering the best price on Chelsea's midfield maestro Frank Lampard scoring the first goal against Portsmouth so I'm going to put my remaining £25 on Lamps.'

Paddy's Bets

£25 on 'the big four' to all win this weekend at 7/4

£25 on Frank Lampard to score first at 13/2

You can check on their progress throughout the season, and we will be reporting back before next weekend's trip to Wigan.
