It was a cold and damp Sunday morning which finished bright and sunny at Cobham today as Chelsea continued through the Academy's International Tournament unbeaten.

Chelsea's Under 16 side built on yesterday's triumph in the opening of the competition with another 2-1 win in today's first fixture before smashing Right to Play's (RTP) Lebanon 8-0. Right to Play are Chelsea's global charity partner.

Facing Samsung Bluewings in the first game of the day, Chelsea controlled possession throughout and secured the win in the second half with a clever free-kick from captain Billy Knot.

It took only four minutes for Chelsea to initially take the lead when Knot sent a freekick curling toward Marco Mitrovic who, from close range, headed the ball behind the line.

It was in the 16th minute that the Bluewings evened the score. Jemal Blackman failed to hold onto a long range shot between the Chelsea posts and the rebound bounced into the path of a Bluewing striker who punished Chelsea for the mistake.

As the first half drew to a close, Chelsea were in control of the game, and from the restart were showing their intent as Knot and Mitrovic both pressured the Bluewings' box.

It took Knott only 10 minutes from the restart to double Chelsea's lead. A harsh tackle on the edge of the box saw a Bluewing defender receive a yellow card before Knott took an early freekick, catching the Bluewings off guard and finding the bottom left in the process, 2-1 to Chelsea.

Both Knot and Mitrovic came close to increasing the lead before the second half drew to a close, but to no avail.

Despite the 2-1 win, Chelsea did not look as strong as they had done against River Plate yesterday, but still managed to secure a place in tomorrow's semi-final with the second win of the tournament so far.

Elsewhere in the competition, Russian side Tolyatti beat Ajax 2-0, with goals from Cerilio Cijntje and Iljaas Rudjan, while Bayern Munich succumbed to a one-goal deficit against Disney All Stars after Voglsammer Andreas had put the Americans ahead..

'We have got a good chance of winning the tournament,' said Neil Bath, Academy Manager.

'We are obviously in the semi-final now and we were pleased with the first game yesterday, but not so pleased with this morning's game.

'Obviously we're happy that we won, but we expected our boys to play better than they did.

'The third game now gives us an opportunity to give some of those, who haven't had a game yet, a chance, as well as a chance to rest some of the ones who played the first two,' he added.

So at 5pm the Chelsea Youth lined up against RTP Lebanon, a team who had already been beaten 7-0 by River Plate, the side who had lost 2-1 to the Blues yesterday.

And Chelsea showed our intent against TRP Lebanon from the kick off, taking only three minutes to obtain the lead as Alex Lozovski collected a cross into the box and calmly slotted past the keeper from close range.

Within 10 minutes of the first, Chelsea had scored a second, when Anton Rodgers sent a shot curling into the top right from the edge of the box.

There was still time for one more before the first half came to an end when Nathaniel Chalobah smashed a Sadik Kamara cross into the back of the net from close range.

Chelsea were in complete control as the break arrived, and proved it immediately from the restart when Lozovski headed a cross into the bottom right. And within minutes of the restart Lozovski had made his hat-trick with a clinical shot into the back of the net.

Aziz Deen-Conteh was next to get his name on the score sheet with a beautiful shot from a tight angle which sent the ball hurtling behind the line, 6-0.

That was the first of two fantastic goals from Conteh, and the second came minutes after the restart, when a curling inch perfect shot from 25 yards out flew into the top left corner.

One more goal was still to arrive before the game was over and it came from Anton Rodgers who, from close range, collected a Lewis Carey cross and calmly tipped it into the goal.

The game finally finished 8-0, a perfect end to a run of three consecutive wins that will take the Blues into the semi-final of the Academy's International Tournament tomorrow.

'We are now as ready for tomorrow as we can be,' said Dermot Drummy, Under 16s coach.

'We weren't particularly pleased with our performance this morning, but they were a very well organised team and they had a style of play that caused problems.

'But, although it is about learning, we don't allow performances below our standards.

'Although the second game was much better and it was more or less the lads being professional, and they did that very well, and they took their goals very well.

'Your aim is always to develop the boys and if you win then that's fantastic, but the main aim is that they develop a winning mentality.

'It is about who has the desire and who wants it the most. The physically stronger teams may progress over the tournament, but we will have to wait and see and all we can do is give our best,' he added.
