Here is the first of a weekly instalment on the Chelsea Ladies, which will take a look at the squad's progress, match results, game previews, team news and much more.

It has been a busy week for the Chelsea Ladies, after battling to beat Blackburn 2-1 on Sunday; they were joined at a hectic training ground by Sky's Soccer AM before lining up for the squad photos.

This all meant a late start to training on Tuesday, as the Ladies played host to Soccer AM's 'Rocket', who instantly challenged the girls to introduce themselves on camera before trying their talent on the Crossbar Challenge.

Unfortunately no-one managed to hit their target on camera, but, unfazed, the Ladies quickly moved on to their next task, Soccer AM's Skill Skool.

And so it was that presenter Rocket selected top-scorer Lianne Sanderson and Kylie Davies to take up the challenge and face one-another off in a jovial exchange of skills.

Sanderson pulled off some impressive moves, including a finale which involved catching the ball between her chin and chest before performing a forward role, once upright again, the Chelsea striker calmly continued with her keepy-ups, nice.

But with such skills on display, and as competitive as ever, Davies was not prepared to lose the talent contest, and immediately pulled off a selection of keepy-ups while on her knees!

We don't know how she did it either, but if you watch Soccer AM this week then it could become clear, maybe.

Anyway, once the cameras were gone it was down to business and the girls begun to line up for the annual squad photo, and needless to say, chaos ensued. But after much debate over who should stand where, and why, the objective was achieved.

With the pictures eventually taken, and the smiles captured, manager Steve Jones could finally get his team to start training in preparation for Sunday's game against Birmingham City.

'Soccer AM was good fun; the girls did the Crossbar Challenge and the Skills Skool which was good and they enjoyed the banter,' said Jones.

'They are really starting to enjoy each others company now. They are all roughly the same age and they all enjoy the same things in life, so we are getting there.

'Slowly but surely we are gelling as a team. But we are all new; the backroom staff are all new, there are four new signings, so it is going to take time.'

Evidently Jones has high expectations for his team, after a 'Liverpool thumping' start to the season, which saw the girls secure a 5-0 home win, Chelsea Ladies have gained six points from two games and currently preside second in the Women's Premier League.

If that isn't a sign of a team who haven't quite gelled yet, then there must be great things to come from the Ladies this season.

'It is going very well so far,' explained Jones: 'But at the moment we are looking for continuity.'

'It is important we prepare properly for Fulham on Thursday and then Birmingham City on Sunday.

'Birmingham have got off to a great start, they have won two games as well, now there are four teams up there [in the league] with six points.

'So this will be the first of many games where we need to start taking points.

'But we are at home on a good pitch at Imber Court, so hopefully we will do quite well.'
