DEDICATED COLE
Joe Cole is Chelsea through and through, and his five years at the club have seen the nifty number 10 grow in both experience and talent.
His dedication cannot be questioned, and after some storming performances, including plenty of important goals, during last season it was no wonder the winger was made our Player of the Year by the fans.
He's here, he's there, and, while at Chelsea's launch of our Corporate and Social Responsibilities (CSR) Report on Wednesday, he was at Cobham, where Cole reiterated his devotion to the Blues.
'I love Chelsea and now I am here I wouldn't want to go and play anywhere else,' he explained.
'The club still want me here and I love the club, I am a Chelsea boy.'
During his half decade with the Blues, Cole has seen several players threaten his reign as winger, but each time he has risen to the task and proved his worth to the team, and with this year's new arrivals, nothing has changed.
'I have been here five years now and whenever we have brought in wingers, I have always accepted the challenge, I have always taken it on and I will do it again.'
Cole was speaking at the launch of Chelsea's CSR Report, which details the club's commitment to our stakeholders, community and charities, as well as our social, economic and environmental responsibilities, and the Chelsea player was on hand to speak to children from some of our community projects.
Also at the launch were children supported by our national charity partner CLIC Sargent, who care for children with cancer and their families, something that Cole is passionate about.
'It does mean a lot to me and it means a lot to Chelsea.
'This is a big thing for the club, with CLIC Sargent and raising money, so we [the team] are all happy to be involved.
'It is great. There are so many different kids, from all different walks of life.
'They are showing a lot of courage and they have got a lot to fight against, it makes you realise how lucky you are.
'The real superstars are the people working with these charities and living with the kids who have these disabilities.
'They have got so much strength, sometimes it can be quite emotional talking to them.
'I love working with kids, it is probably something I want to do once I have finished my career, in terms of passing my football knowledge onto them. You get so much out of it.'
Moving back onto the topic of sport, Cole was keen to express his pride in Great Britain's achievements in the 2008 Olympic Games, which took place in China, and his ambition to be part of the global competition.
'We were all proud of our Olympic team; we always want our national team to do really well.
'I would love to play in it [the Olympic Games]. I would be over age obviously, but I would love to get the chance to play in that tournament.
'If there is a chance to represent your country - you don't turn that down.'
