Only two of Chelsea's five-strong contingent appeared for England's first training session ahead of a crucial week for the national side.

John Terry, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were all absent from today's meet-up, leaving Wayne Bridge and Joe Cole to keep the Blue flag flying at Arsenal's London Colney training complex.

JT was laid low overnight by a light illness and Lamps and Ash had small leg injuries. None are believed to be at risk for Saturday's Group 6 opener against minnows Andorra away in Barcelona.

The three missed out on light training, Capello opting for a low-key start to preparations for Saturday when his England career begins in earnest. Little was revealed of his plans for the game although that may change as the week progresses.
