FRANKIE AT FRANKIE'S
Stamford Bridge's newest addition was officially opened last night (Wednesday) with a VIP party inside Frankie's restaurant.
Champion jockey Frankie Dettori and award-winning chef Marco Pierre White were both in attendance as the champagne flowed inside the Italian Sports Bar and Grill.
Over 350 VIPs and friends of the famous pair arrived at the Bridge to celebrate the opening of Frankie's, which is situated next to Pierre White's critically acclaimed restaurant Marco.
The restaurant has been open to the public since mid-August, but last night saw the official launch and both Dettori and Pierre White were proud of their creation.
'Frankie's is a great addition and it is a natural concept for a football ground,' explained Pierre White.
'Frankie's a jockey; I'm a cook, so it's neutral. Therefore we open our arms to everybody.
'By having it as a neutral it can be a service for the residents, as well as being there for the spectators and there for the hotel.
'If you're a client in the hotel and you are here on business, you are by yourself, you don't really know London that well, you can go downstairs, watch the game or watch some sport and enjoy dinner at a good price.'
Dettori is no stranger to the sporting world, the four-time Ascot Gold Cup winner is one of the most decorated jockeys in the world, and with five children, he understands the need for family-orientated restaurants.
'I enjoy a nice steak, nice fish, a decent glass of red wine and my kids enjoy the pizza or a burger,' said Dettori.
'So that's why we created Frankie's. That way, having a big family, you can appreciate a night out.
'That was the start of Frankie's, and that's why it has become so successful.
'And it's not just families, it's teenagers, people on hen nights, people just going out - anybody can enjoy the food at a reasonable price.'
This is the sixth Frankie's; the first restaurant opened its doors three years ago, and to celebrate there is 50 per cent off all food until mid-September.
'If you want to go in there and have a steak and a glass of wine, it is affordable,' added Pierre White.
'It is affordable glamour, and the future of dining out is affordable glamour, because more of us want to dine out more often.'
