SCOLARI: MY RAY OF HELP
Felipe Scolari welcomed Ray Wilkins back into the Chelsea fold on Thursday. A day later he has spoken publicly about his new assistant first team coach.
Wilkins will work alongside existing assistant first team coach Flavio Teixeira and fitness coach Darlan Schneider, taking on a role filled by Steve Clarke until a week ago.
'Ray is a face for Chelsea,' Scolari says.
'He played many years for Chelsea, he played many years for the national team and he played outside England - in Italy and Scotland. He is a man who is important for us because he knows many clubs, many players and he knows English football.
'That is important for me because sometimes I need some information. I am here only three months and I need someone that knows English football. When I introduced Ray to the players, many knew him and spoke to him and it is good relationship.'
On Sunday at Stamford Bridge, Wilkins will return to the turf he first graced 35 years ago. Scolari will accompany him.
'I think the fans like him and they will give to him a good welcome.
'Also this is the first time Steve [Clarke] is not with me. I wish Steve all the best because I like him and wish him a good future.'
