The Reserves include Carlo Cudicini in the side to face Portsmouth tonight (Tuesday) as they look to continue their good league form and put a friendly defeat to Liverpool behind them.

In a match that will be broadcast live on Chelsea TV, there is also the chance to see new loan-signing Fabio Paim make his first start, the Portuguese winger having come on as a sub previously in the impressive win at Arsenal.

The second string have won two-out-of-two competitive games so far and sit atop the league table but manager Brendan Rodgers was disappointed with a sub-standard showing against Liverpool in a specially-arranged fixture last Friday. He will be looking for his young outfield players to return to the form of the early season.

Scott Sinclair, the scorer of an outstanding solo effort in the previous league game against West Ham, is selected as part of the attack to take the game to a Portsmouth side that beat Fulham away but lost at home to Arsenal in their two games so far.

Cudicini will guarding the reserve team goal for the first time since the 2001/2 season.

Star of last season's FA Youth Cup run, Gaƫl Kakuta, is still on his way back from a pre-season injury but players from the youth squad continue to be given a taste of life with the Reserves. Fabio Borini, scorer of a youth team hat-trick at the weekend, is rewarded with a place on the bench tonight. The Italian has made one previous sub appearance.

Last year's reserve team captain, Sam Hutchinson, will hoping for more action tonight having made his return from 11 months out injured in the Liverpool game. The England Under 19 international is also among the subs.
