Chelsea Academy product Jack Cork has been brought into the England Under 21 squad for the first time, making it four young Blues potentially involved in an important play-off tie.

The 19-year-old, who has captained England Under 19s, has joined Wolves defender Richard Stearman as late additions made by coach Stuart Pearce after injuries to Micah Richards and Aaron Lennon forced their withdrawal.

Cork, who is currently on-loan at Southampton where he has played nine games this season, can operate at centre-back, full-back or in midfield.

He joins Michael Mancienne and Ryan Bertrand in the England squad. Goalkeeper Rhys Taylor is in the Wales party for a two-legged play-off to make the European Championships. The first match is in Cardiff on Friday with the return at Villa Park on Tuesday.
