CECH: WE WILL START AGAIN
Petr Cech says the end of our 86 unbeaten home league record is simply the beginning of something new for Chelsea.
After yesterday's clash with league-leaders Liverpool, one where a freak deflection ended Cech's clean sheet, our keeper hopes the Blues will bounce back from our defeat to face Hull on Wednesday.
'Defeat happens in football and you have to forget about it and start again,' explained Cech.
'Of course it has been a great run, 86 games, I don't think someone can really come close to that in the future because it is a fantastic run.
'But now it is all behind us and we have to think about the game on Wednesday when we go to Hull.
'We have the same number of points and we have to bounce back with a victory.
'We say that with something ending, something new begins, so we hope that is the case here.'
Liverpool took the lead through a left-footed Xabi Alonso shot, which bounced off José Bosingwa and into the bottom right, past an out-stretched Cech.
'I went to save the ball on the left and unfortunately it came off Bosingwa on the other side, it is a bit unlucky because I tried to stretch my legs but it bounced underneath me,' said the Czech international keeper.
But Cech kept the Blues in the game later on with a fantastic save, preventing Steven Gerrard finding the net, as he tipped over a dangerously dipping shot from 20 yards out.
'At that moment it was an important save, because if they'd scored then it would have been over. But I was in the position to get the ball and that's my job as a keeper.'
The Reds' tactics worked well, despite Chelsea's pressure on their box, as they cut out crosses, filling the box with Liverpool shirts to prevent any Chelsea chances.
And it was Liverpool's defensive style that went on to secure them their win at the Bridge, despite long periods of Chelsea possession.
'It is a big leap for them; they have three points from Stamford Bridge,' said Cech.
'They are top of the league now and at the beginning of the season they didn't play that well but they were getting results.
'Against us I thought they played very well and they were very organised, they knew exactly what to do and what they wanted to do.
'They came with a plan to close the space, and even though we were working the ball well, we didn't have the space to open the box.
'And having the ball is a good sign you are playing well, but you need to create chances.
'So the plan was important, to defend and take up the space, and it worked for them.
'But there are a lot of games to go, and we have a game away from home against them later on, so we can get those three points.'
The question now one everyone's lips is whether yesterday's defeat will affect Chelsea's mid-week performance against Hull, who currently preside third in the table on equal points with the Blues.
'We have lost games away from home, so we all know how it feels to lose a game and we all know that it is always better to be on the winning side.
'But we know exactly what to do, we have to bounce back and we have the strength in our side to do that.
'When you win promotion and get a few positive results, you start fighting and go to every game to enjoy.
'So they [Hull] have the confidence and in any game they have nothing to lose, this is really dangerous.
'But you have this every year when promoted sides start so well, but this time it is Hull and we know what to expect from them,' added Cech.
