John Terry has declared himself fully fit to lead a much-changed England side into a friendly contest in Germany tonight (Wednesday).

The Chelsea and England captain was passed ready to play after Monday's training following pain in his foot during the game at West Brom.

Terry has confirmed: 'I had a scan on Sunday morning about 8 o'clock and the scan came back fully okay, so I am delighted to be here. I've trained and I am 100 per cent fit.'

With debate raging over the commitment of players to such friendly internationals, Terry has added his thoughts.

'It is disappointing that people think that way. Playing for your country is the ultimate,

'I can speak for Frank Lampard having seen the disappointment he had having to pull out with the rib injury he has picked up. You want to play with your country and do well.

'Me having to walk away and leave the lads for the last two England game was really disappointing and that is the way all the lads feel. They want to give everything.'

The withdrawal of some of England's more senior players opens doors for younger ones to take part in Berlin. One possible debut tonight is Michael Mancienne. Fabio Capello has spoken about the young Chelsea defender's call-up as more for the experience than to play, but he has explained the selection.

'He [Mancienne] is a very interesting player. He is young, he is fast. He played very well with the Under 21s.

'I spoke with [Under 21 coach] Stuart [Pearce]. He said it is okay for him to be in the squad at this moment. It is important to know the atmosphere, the other players for a young player.

'I am sure the 11 will play with confidence and it will be a good match.

'Some players play very well in the Premier League and I can check really what they can do during in one very important game against Germany.'
