There were eight Chelsea players in international action on Wednesday evening, including a winning goal from captain John Terry.

Terry headed the winning goal against Germany in Berlin as England ran out 2-1 winners.

His goal came late in the 84th minute, following Matthew Upson's opener, cancelled out by Patrick Helmes' finish. That goal came about after a lack of communication between Terry and substitute goalkeeper Scott Carson.

In addition to England skipper Terry, Wayne Bridge played the full 90 minutes at left-back. Michael Ballack was missing for the Germans while Joe Cole, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were all absent from the England line-up. Former Blues Shaun Wright-Phillips and Glen Johnson were starters in Fabio Capello's side.

Elsewhere, Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba were in the starting line-up for Ivory Coast in Israel, eventually earning a 2-2 draw.

Kalou played the entire 90 minutes while Drogba was withdrawn at the hour mark.

Serbia, featuring Branislav Ivanovic at right-back were 6-1 winners against Bulgaria. Ivanovic played the first-half, coming off with the score 4-1. Former Aston Villa striker Savo Milosevic was on the scoresheet as he bowed out of international football. Man United's Dmitar Berbatov failed to complete the game, the Bulgarian substituted with what is reported to be a hamstring injury.

France, featuring forward Nicolas Anelka were held to a 0-0 draw in Paris by Uruguay. The Chelsea front man came close to breaking the deadlock but flashed his first half header wide of the post.

A hat-trick from Sevilla forward Luis Fabiano condemned a Portugal side containing, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira and Deco to a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Brazil.

Ferreira played 90 minutes at left-back while Deco featured for 67 minutes before being replaced by Joao Moutinho.

Reserve team winger Miroslav Stoch was in action on Tuesday night, playing all but the last minute of a Slovakian Under 23 side's 1-0 home win over Northern Ireland. Ben Sahar played in Israel Under 21s' 3-2 home defeat by Serbia.
