Comment

Michael Ballack returned to European football tonight as he started against Bordeaux, but it was a disappointing first half for the Blues with three yellow cards (Frank Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole) and not a single shot on target.

There was a higher tempo to the second half, as Chelsea came out with a greater urgency to our play.

The Blues' first shot on target was the Anelka goal, the Frenchman last kick of the game as Didier Drogba replaced him as he also returned to European action, his first outing in the competition since our trip to Cluj.

Lampard's red card will be a blow as tonight's draw means Roma our now one point ahead while Bordeaux sit only a point behind, creating a tense final round of games for the group stage.
