Chelsea Football Club and Don Foster, the Liberal Democrat spokesman for Culture, Media and Sport, have issued a joint statement following reports in the media.

'For reasons of miscommunication it has been reported that Chelsea are charging fans £4 for a pint of beer and after speaking to the club again I am happy to accept that their prices are actually £3.50,' said Mr Foster.

Chelsea have invited Mr Foster to one of our home games:

'We look forward to welcoming Mr Foster to Stamford Bridge to see the prices we charge are in line with many other football clubs rather than the figures reported,' said a spokesman.

'I'm sure many of our fans were as surprised as we were to see the reported prices but we would like to reassure them that prices remain at £3.50.'
