Speaking to Chelsea TV, Frank Lampard has reiterated that we must be on top form if we are to earn a result at Old Trafford this weekend.

The midfielder, who has demonstrated some of the best form of his career this season, is well aware of the dangers posed by Manchester United, and is keen to stress the importance of the game.

'Always a game against Manchester United will be a table-topping clash and it's in our minds that we dropped some relatively easy points over the last few weeks, so we're in a position now where we really want to get a result,' said the 30-year-old.

'We go to win the game or not to get beaten, there is still a long way to go regardless but it is a very important game.'

Six draws in 10 games is a disappointing run, but Lampard believes spirit must not be lost, and we can look at the league table for comfort.

'The publicity around Chelsea now is that if you drop a few points people jump on it straight away, but Liverpool and United have dropped points, no one has pulled away from us, and Arsenal are behind us,' he reasoned.

'It's the same for everyone, now we're starting all pretty much level. We need to start this part of the season very strong.'

Michael Ballack and John Terry are likely to return having served their suspensions, and there are no new injury worries to contend with. However Lampard recognises the threat United offer.

'There are quite a few to look out for up front but Ronaldo and Rooney,' he said. 'Rooney is an amazing talent and in the big games is very up for it, Ronaldo is World Player of the Year, can change a game in a second and always has good ding dongs with Ashley [Cole] whenever he plays against him, so those two and if you go past them you have Berbatov, Tevez, and they have a lot of strength in depth.'

Finally, Lampard sent a message to the travelling supporters who have impressed him so much already this season.

'Keep doing what you are doing, our travelling support has been fantastic. That was the frustrating thing at Fulham, they took the whole end and sang throughout the game and I know how much they feel it [the disappointment]. We feel it as much as they do and we have to make sure we get it right,' he said.
