CHELSEA CONTINUES TO SUPPORT SUPER SOCCER STAR
Following the success of Super Soccer Star in both China and Malaysia, Chelsea will now support the launch of the competition in India and the Middle East.
As the club continues our commitment to promoting grassroots football in Asia, Super Soccer Star will take place in the two new regions in conjunction with Chelsea and the show's creators Galleon Holdings and Media Star Global.
The previous competition's winners have all had trials with the Chelsea Academy, with Chinese champion Xialong Tu recently signing a professional contract with Guangdong City in the Chinese Jia League.
Chelsea has been part of the reality show, which aims to find a country's best football players between the ages of 13 and 16-years-old, since its beginnings in China and hosts the competitors at our Cobham training ground during the final stages of the competition (this year's Malaysian finalists are pictured with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon).
As well as India, the Middle Eastern territories for the new programme will cover United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Stephen Green, chief executive officer of Galleon Holdings, said: 'The success of Super Soccer Star in China and Malaysia has enabled us to expand the show in to new regions.
'With the help of our production partners, we are confident at being able to create a truly global entertainment brand for Supper Soccer Star and expanding the current footprint into further territories.'
Wasim Haq, chief executive officer of Media Star Global, added: 'We look forward to working with Galleon and Chelsea FC on this prime time property.
'It has a proven track record and we are optimistic about its future in India and the Middle East.'
