Carlo Ancelotti's first interview on agreeing to become Chelsea manager was with Chelsea TV. Here is what was said.

Carlo, Welcome to Chelsea. You have been at Milan a very long time. So, why have you chosen Chelsea and why now?

Milan for me was a great experience. I played there five years with a great team from 1987 to 1992. We won a lot of success. I was there for eight years to train a great team but now I think it's the time to change and Chelsea for me was a great opportunity, a great team to do a new experience.

Also, I would like to thank the Milan team, Milan company, Milan players and Milan fans because I stayed very well these eight years, and also five years played with emotion and great success. But now I think it is the right moment for a new challenge and I want to put all my energy for Chelsea.

So, a new job and also a new language for you to learn?

This is my first interview ever in English. For me it is not easy but I want to learn, I want to improve. I have the time, so when we start the season I will speak well because it's important for me to speak with the players, the team with the assistants and with all the operators that will work with me.

You already know the pressure of challenging for three or four trophies in the same season at Milan, and at Chelsea it will be natural for you to come to that same environment?

I think so. There will be the same pressure because Chelsea and Milan are great teams in Europe and they want to win all the competitions, so I think there will be the same pressure.

We've never won the Champions League at Chelsea, you have a great record in Europe. You've won the European Cup as a player, and as a manager three finals and two wins so you'll be bringing that back to Chelsea?

For me the Champions League is a beautiful sensation because when I played I won it 2 times in 1989 and 1990. It was fantastic moment. The same thing as when I was a coach in Milan in 2003 and 2007.

The Champions League for me is the best competition in the world and all want to win. Chelsea has a great record, five semi-finals in six years is a beautiful score so great, but now we need to win, and I hope this will happen.

And the Premier League, for three years we haven't won that. What do you know about the Premier League? Do you watch a lot of it on television?

Yes, yes, I see always the matches on television. I like the Premier League because I think there are great teams and they play good football. Less tactical matches, very speedy and I like this football.

So that will be new for you and very different to Serie A? A different challenge?

In Italy now, and also before, the matches are more tactical, very tactical matches. The teams come to defend well and only after to attack, and so the matches were about control and not so speedy.

Have you seen any of us this season, any Chelsea games on the television? Did you watch any or come to any?

I watch Chelsea, I watch Liverpool, I watch Manchester United. I know very well the English football. And Chelsea is a great team, great players. Strong team, I like.

What do you know already about the club and the players at Chelsea? Have you spoken to Sheva about the facilities, and training and the stadium?

Yes I spoke with Sheva in these moments. I know very well the situation with the facilities. I saw Cobham and I like these facilities.

Ray Wilkins works at the club. Do you know him? He was at Milan and left in 1987, and you came in 1987.

Yes, yes I know Ray, because he was an opponent when I played in Rome he played in Milan and he left in 1987 and I came in 1987, yes.

Tell us about your approach to management, your philosophy?

It's not easy to speak about my philosophy even in Italian so it's more difficult to speak in English, but I try.

I like to be close with the players, close with the company. I like to speak with the people. I believe in teamwork. It's the most important thing to create a group that work together to build a dream. For me this is the most important thing.

The players and the company to have a strong organisation, very strong discipline, to have the right motivation. I hope to do this together because this is the right way to arrive to success.

And in terms of football on the field, are you a coach that has a system you take with you wherever, Reggiana, Parma, Juve, Milan -- do you take that system, do you play a certain way in tactics and formations?

I change it, not every year, but I change it depending on the characteristic of the players, it depends. For example in Juventus there was Zidane, he was an offensive midfielder and I built the team for Zidane. First you have to know the characteristics of the players and after you can put a system for the players.

So to you personally, what qualities do you think you will bring to Chelsea football club as a coach?

I want to bring my experience, I want to bring my individual quality. I think to win is important. I think to work together is the most important thing to win. To have great motivation and have a right objective.

But in Chelsea it's easy to find objectives. Win the Champions League, win the Premier League, win FA Cup, win Carling Cup. To win all is naturally not easy, but the right way is to create a group of people that work well together.

And finally, the Chelsea fans will be very pleased you're coming and very excited to hear from you today. Have you got a message for them?

We have the time to get to know each together. We have a way to stay together and I hope they will stay well with me and I will stay well with them.

Carlo, thank you very much.

Thank you
