He may have increased his personal record as Chelsea's leading scorer in major cup finals but Didier Drogba was talking team matters after the final whistle on Saturday.

Conceding a goal in a Wembley showpiece before many fans had settled into their seats could all but destroy some teams' confidence, as Middlesbrough found out back in 1997 with Roberto Di Matteo's previous fastest strike.

However the Blues during Guus Hiddink's spell in charge proved time and again to be made of sterner stuff, not least in the semi-final against Arsenal when we came back from one down to win 2-1. And thanks to Drogba's first-half header and Frank Lampard's special second-half strike, the team did it again.

'We had some difficulties at the start of this game,' Drogba said of the big Cup Final win over Everton, 'but you also have to say that it was a good goal.

'But our strength is that we still believe in our qualities, and better than before, we play a bit more and are more confident and that is why we won.

'The discipline between us was already good, you don't win six trophies in five years if you don't have discipline and you don't have friendship together but the manager [Guus Hiddink] gave us this extra bit. We know his quality, we know how good he is. I think this cup is his.

'The FA Cup is fantastic, especially when you win it. I am really delighted to finish the season this way. We made a lot of effort to win at least one trophy and we did it.'

Drogba now has six goals in Chelsea cup finals, two ahead of Peter Osgood's total and three more than Di Matteo netted.

One player who has yet to make his first entry on the list despite pictures showing that his second-half shot did cross the line after bouncing down off the crossbar is Florent Malouda.

'It should have been the best goal of my whole career but anyway we are so happy that we won the Cup,' the winger smiled.

'Everybody is going to enjoy it and he [Hiddink] brought back joy at Stamford Bridge and we say thank you.

'The team is still the same,' Malouda added as he began to look forward to working with a new manager. 'We hope we are going to work the same way with more stability. The FA Cup is not enough. It is just the beginning.'
