CHELSEA TV EXCLUSIVE: FAVOURITE FIVE
That Ashley Cole was in reach of an FA Cup record at the weekend was well documented prior to kick-off and when his target was reached, there was no anticlimax felt.
Not only did Cole move ahead of five others by gaining five FA Cup winners' medals in the modern era but he did it with a performance that earned the Chelsea left-back the official Man of the Match award.
Chelsea TV, with exclusive access to the celebrations in the dressing room following the final whistle, was the first to ask him how it compared.
'This is the best one and means the most,' Cole decided, 'because I am with my real friends and I am at a great club here. For me this one is the favourite.'
Three of his previous FA Cup wins had been with Arsenal and in 2007 following his move across London, he was used as a substitute in extra time having narrowly won a race to be fit.
Ankle surgery on a problem that Cole has since spoken about as a hindrance to his natural game during his early Chelsea career took place the summer following that Final.
'I didn't really want to come to the club and have the operation straight away,' he has said. 'I tried to play through the pain. People were saying it was [José] Mourinho who didn't let me attack but I just couldn't do it.'
Loose bone was taken away although he would again injure the ankle the next season while on England duty. This season however Cole has felt fit and injury free and the cheer he received when the Man of the Match was announced at Wembley was a sign the Chelsea support appreciate they are seeing the best of him.
'It was hard at the start when I came here because the fans loved Bridgey [Wayne Bridge] and I came from a rival club,' Cole explained to Chelsea TV, 'but I love the club, I fight for the club and I fight for the players and hopefully they can understand that now.'

Meanwhile amid the dressing room joy, John Terry wanted to speak to the club's own channel about winning goalscorer Frank Lampard and his remarkable record of achievement.
'He has been our most consistent player over the last five or six years,' the captain declared, 'and to keep the lads going when players aren't playing well and things aren't going well for the team, you rely on Lamps to pop up with goals and drive the team forward with his performances. He has done that. I thought him and Ash were fantastic again in the game.'
