On Friday evening, France, featuring Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda, host Turkey in a friendly in Lyon, while Petr Cech is with the Czech Republic as they play Malta at home in another non-competitive game.

England have two World Cup qualifiers to contend, beginning with Saturday's trip to Almaty to face Kazakhstan, before returning to Wembley for a home date with Andorra on Wednesday.

Captain John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole will all be expected to start as Fabio Capello bids to maintain his 100 per cent record in Group Six.

The English trio are not the only Chelsea men heading east at the weekend, as Portugal's Ricardo Carvalho, José Bosingwa and Deco join up with their countrymen for an away game in Albania.

The Portuguese are in need of a win, currently third in Group One with just six points from five games, seven behind Denmark and Hungary.

On the same night, Serbia, with Branislav Ivanovic expected to play at right-back, host Austria in Group Seven, and will want to continue their impressive start that has seen them top the group ahead of France.

Chelsea's African contingent will be in action on Sunday in more World Cup qualification games, John Mikel Obi's Nigeria hosting Kenya, Michael Essien's Ghana away in Mali, and Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou heading to Guinea with the Ivory Coast side.

In preparation for the Under 21 European Championships in Sweden, Michael Mancienne and his England team-mates will play a friendly against Azerbaijan in Milton Keynes on Monday night.

On Wednesday comes the second round of European qualifiers, and the final competitive games of the season for those countries.

Portugal are away in Estonia, and Serbia away to the Faroe Islands, while England return home to play Andorra. In the away game last September, Joe Cole scored twice to win the game in Spain.

Next Saturday there is a friendly for Drogba and Kalou against Cameroon in Abidjan.

Mancienne's Under 21 campaign begins on Monday, 15 June, when Stuart Pearce's side play Finland in Halmstad.

Three days later it is on to Gothenburg to face Spain, before returning to Halmstad to play Germany in the final group game on June 22.

Back in Africa, there is a second World Cup qualifier on Sunday, June 20.

Ivory Coast are away again, this time in Burkina Faso, while Ghana travel to Sudan. Nigeria are away to Tunisia.

As things stand after one round of games, Nigeria are third in Group B with one point, while Ghana and the Ivory Coast top their respective groups D and E having both won their first games.

If that still isn't enough football to keep you going over the summer, then there is also international youth football to follow, with Uefa Under 19 European Championship qualifying going on.

Youngsters Patrick van Aanholt, Jeffrey Bruma (Holland) and Conor Clifford (Ireland) will all be competing in group games.

Holland play Belarus tonight, Slovenia (June 6) and Russia (June 9) in Slovenia, while Ireland play Belgium (June 5), Switzerland (June 7) and Sweden (June 10) in Belgium.

At Under 17 level, Milan Lalkovic is in the Slovakian squad that meets Austria on June 10.
