JT: NEW MAN FOR NEXT LEVEL
John Terry has spoken about the anticipation both he and new manager Carlo Ancelotti feel as they look forward to the campaign to come.
Away in Kazakhstan with England, Terry has so far exchanged long-distance words with the man who will be in charge at Stamford Bridge next season.
'I am looking forward to getting back pre-season and working with him because players in the England squad and away from England who have worked with him speak very highly of him,' Terry said. David Beckham and Andriy Shevchenko for a start are two who could brief the Chelsea captain on the new man in charge.
'I spoke to him [Ancelotti] briefly over the phone and he is very excited, his English is very good, Terry continued.'
Fabio Capello, who managed Ancelotti at the tail end of his playing career and then competed against the new Chelsea boss many times as a coach, added:
'It is the first time he will work away from Italy, it is an adventure for him and I hope that he will work very well and will be a big satisfaction for the club.'
'I think over the years they have obviously learnt a lot from each other,' said Terry who is looking to Ancelotti to take him to the level his managers at club and country already are - that of European Cup winners.
'To win the Champions League, it's a massive thing for me. With what happened in the Barcelona game and in the Final the year before that, it is still hurting.
'We'll work hard to do our best next year. We're being linked with players that can maybe take us to that next level. As a player at Chelsea I'm happy and delighted that we're back in for these top players. It seems that for a couple of years we haven't been, but we're linked with the best players in the world again.'
