Unirea, the side managed by former Chelsea star Dan Petrescu, will enter the draw for the Champions League group stage next season after winning the Romanian championship on Wednesday night.

Unirea, whose previous best finish was fifth last season, the first under Petrescu's control, drew 1-1 with Steaua Bucharest as Timisoara, the only side with a mathematical chance of catching them, lost their final match.

Petrescu's team finished five points ahead of second-placed Dinamo Bucharest, a great achievement for a club that only reached the top division in 2006 and plays in a 7,000-capacity stadium, the smallest in that division.

The conclusion of Romania's league completes the list of automatic qualifiers for the group stage that reads:

Manchester United
Liverpool
Chelsea
Barcelona
Real Madrid
Sevilla
Internazionale
Juventus
AC Milan
Girondins Bordeaux
Olympique Marseille
VfL Wolfsburg
Bayern Munich
Rubin Kazan
CSKA Moscow
Unirea Urziceni
FC Porto
AZ Alkmaar
Glasgow Rangers
Besiktas
Dinamo Kiev
Standard Liège

The remaining 10 places will be occupied by teams that come through qualification knockout rounds.
