FORLAN: WE’RE NOT IN THE BEST FORM
Atletico Madrid have not been playing the best football of late but Diego Forlan is still looking forward to the clash at Stamford Bridge tonight.
The former Manchester United man admitted his side have seen some tough fixtures over the past weeks and knows tonight's game will be no easier.
'Obviously it is a difficult game, we are playing against players who have been together a long time, so it is a difficult task we are facing, but it's obviously a game in which we would like to play.
'I am happy to be here, it is another game for us but I love the pressure of these types of games.
'We're probably not in our best form at the moment, but we're happy to be playing in the Champions League.'
Atletico's current form is a bit of a conundrum, considering the side finished fourth in last season's La Liga campaign with virtually the same team.
The Spanish club have failed to win any of their last four away trips and currently sit at the bottom of our Champions League group with one point following a draw with APOEL.
'We have been struggling since the beginning of the season,' explained Forlan, 'now we are trying to get the shape back and start winning games because we need to do that as soon as possible.
'We were a bit tired after the international break but now we're motivated for tomorrow's game. It's definitely a game we need to do well in if we are to go further in the competition.'
However, Forlan's coach was keen to play down his team's recent results, insisting Atletico are still in a good position to push for European glory.
'We are being punished too much for the way we are playing,' said Abel Resino, 'we only need two results for the team to relax and start playing in a relaxed manner, that's what we are trying to do.
'It is easy to talk bad about things and the way things are going at the moment but it is all about turning the situation around.
'We can win tonight; there is a possibility of doing this.'
There are still hospitality packages available for tonight's game priced at £250 plus VAT per person, for more information please call 0871 984 1955.
If you can't make it to tonight's game then Chelsea TV will be showing the full replay at midnight.
