Penalty king Frank Lampard insists we must not relax after another superb victory at the weekend.

The midfielder was on target from the spot to open the scoring at Bolton on Saturday, and set up Didier Drogba for the fourth goal in injury time to wrap up a second 4-0 win against the Trotters inside four days.

After the game, he was delighted with the performance of the team as a whole.

'It was very good, I think we had to work very hard early on. Considering the result midweek I think we knew Bolton would start very strong, they put us under pressure and played well,' he said.

'It was always going to be a different game, we were playing away so it was more difficult and there were some big players for them, Kevin Davies up front, so we had to battle our way through whereas we had it all our own way on Wednesday. Today we had to work harder for it and credit to us that we did.

'We had to wait until just before half-time to get our reward when Didi was through, it was a penalty, and unfortunately nowadays that's a red card. Once the penalty went in and we were 1-0 up you always fancied us to come out and win the game.

'We're playing well as a unit. Clean sheets are a testament to the whole team defending well and the goals show we are playing well. Aston Villa was a game we were disappointed to lose, we had a word with ourselves and wanted to bounce back instantly and we've certainly done that.'

We have now racked up 17 goals without reply in the four games since Villa Park on October 17, which sets us up well for a big week ahead, in which we could wrap up qualification for the Champions League knockout stages and move further ahead in the title race if we beat Manchester United at home on Sunday.

'We know there are big games all over, we are going well in the Champions League and go into that with a good state of mind, and then Man United and I don't think anyone has to work hard to get up for that one,' Lampard said.

'We all know it's coming and we will try to put a bit of space between us and them at the top. There is always room for improvement, I think we are in good form but any moment of slack and that form will quickly go away, so we'll keep trying to improve.'

Lampard's converted penalty was his fifth of the season (including two scored for England), and he insisted his high success rate is due to nothing more than practice.

'There's no secret, I just try and score them,' he smiled. 'I just try and be confident and step up and score them. If there was a secret I wouldn't tell anyone anyway!

'It's nice to score the important ones, like the ones that put us in front. I do practice them, it helps keep you on form. You can't recreate situations but you can practice your technique and a few of us do that, so we're ready when they come.'
