The forthcoming international fixtures at many age levels have bitten into the team selected by Steve Holland for Monday evening's home game, with five changes from the side that lost at Stoke last week.

Daniel Sturridge is available to come in up front and Ross Turnbull is another first team squad player who will be in action tonight at Brentford. The match is live on Chelsea TV.

Billy Knott, a first-year youth team, player has been rewarded for good performances in the Under 18s, where he has scored in four consecutive games from full-back, with his first reserve start. The England Under 17 international came on as a sub last week.

Danny Mills, still a schoolboy, will make his fourth appearance at this level in central defence where he will partner Jeffrey Bruma.

A call-up by France Under 19s for a three-game tournament means Gael Kakuta will be not be involved.

'We are without Jacopo Sala, Nemanja Matic, Conor Clifford, Jan Sebek and Fabio Borini who played in the last game, due to international duty,' lists reserve team manager Holland.

'That creates an opportunity for one or two lads who haven't played of late, as well as one or two from the youth team.

'The individual needs of the players is an ongoing process that changes every day so we don't really focus on the teamwork of the reserves until I know the team, which is usually the day before the game.

'I've had players added to my group over the weekend that weren't involved in Carlo Ancelotti's group against Manchester United, so it's not until Sunday that we did some work on the game.'

Chelsea are currently fifth in the Barclays Premier Reserve League South, three places and four points ahead of tonight's opponents Fulham. It's the second string's third home game of the season. Previously they enjoyed a thumping 4-1 win over West Ham in which Sturridge was among the scorers.

Fulham won their most recent away game 2-0 at Portsmouth and followed it up with a 1-1 home draw versus West Ham. This corresponding fixture last season was a 1-1 draw with a Miroslav Stoch penalty the Chelsea goal.

The Chelsea team tonight is:
Ross Turnbull, Nana Ofori-Twumasi, Jeffrey Bruma, Danny Mills, Ben Gordon, Michael Woods, Nikki Ahamed, Billy Knott, Josh McEachran, Milan Lalkovic, Daniel Sturridge.

Subs: Niclas Heimann, Kenny Strickland, Billy Clifford, Daniel Philliskirk, Marko Mitrovic.
