WOMEN’S WEEKLY
It was the first of the 'top three' clashes this year on Sunday and Chelsea Ladies produced a surprise start to the fixture.
Last season saw Arsenal crowned title winners once again, finishing above Everton and the Chelsea Ladies who were second and third respectively, and the weekend's clash was our first meeting with the side this campaign.
After taking the lead 16 seconds into the match with a strike from former Gunner forward Lianne Sanderson (pictured), the Blues increased our lead to two within the first 10 minutes.
Once Arsenal had levelled, the final 15 minutes was an interesting affair. The referee limped off and with the assessor already called into action following the non-appearance of a linesman, a spectator took over running the line.
It was during the time added on for this change that Arsenal scored their winning goal in the 95th minute.
That leaves the Ladies second in the table, while our north London rivals have climbed to fourth, with 15 points from five games. We have accumulated 16 points from seven games.
And the Gunners went on to continue their successful start to the season with a 2-0 second leg win over Sparta Prague in the Women's Champions League midweek.
Fresh from the tense encounter at Imber Court, Chelsea Ladies' home ground, Arsenal hosted the European opponents and secured their fourth consecutive clean sheet in the competition.
The 5-0 aggregate win means they're now one team in the final eight of the Women's Champions League.
Elsewhere in the weekend's league action, Watford hosted Birmingham for a 2-2 draw while Doncaster Rovers beat Bristol Academy 2-0 at home.
Nottingham Forest and Millwall drew with a goal apiece and in the League Cup Leeds thumped Blackburn 5-0.
That means we'll face Leeds in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, while Arsenal and Everton also battle it out for a place in the final.
Everton didn't play this weekend, meaning they currently find themselves eighth in the league, with 12 points from four games.
