ANCELOTTI READY TO GIVE GAEL A GO
Carlo Ancelotti has revealed high hopes for a player he might give a debut to today against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Almost certainly never has the name of a teenage Chelsea player, Jimmy Greaves included, been so widely known before he has even kicked a ball for the first team.
The on-going case concerning Gael Kakuta's move to the club has seen to that, but with the ban on the 18-year-old taking part in competitive games suspended, Ancelotti announced on Friday that the midfielder is on the bench this afternoon.
The manager backs him to be right mentally to cope with the spotlight.
'I think Kakuta suffered for one or two weeks about the situation and then after that he was better. He returned to being quiet and calm and stayed with us to train. Still now he is well.
'It was not so important to speak with him, it was important to train with him and he stayed with the first team in this period.
'He is a very good talent,' Ancelotti continues. 'He is very young and he can be a player in the future of Chelsea with his quality. His character is good, he is a quiet boy, and at that age I have never seen a player with this talent.'
The France Under 19 international has been an unused Chelsea sub once before, back in January at home to Stoke when Luiz Felipe Scolari was manager. This is the first time Ancelotti has involved him, although he doesn't see the finished article yet.
'Technically he is fantastic. He has a left foot that is very good. His best position is a Number 10, like Deco or Joe Cole.
'He is ready to come on in a game but he is not so strong, he has to improve his physical quality, but technically he is ready to play.'
One player who won't be on the pitch to guide Kakuta should he be called into action today is Frank Lampard. Ancelotti is challenging his other stars to make sure the vice-captain is not missed too much.
'We lose a very important player but we have an opportunity to show to the others that we can play also without a fantastic player like Lampard. It can happen in a season that you have a player out for two, three or four weeks and this is not a problem. I want to see other players put in more to show the best.
'In training we work with other players, we have a very good squad and we have players who play in different positions.
'Lampard is improving fast everyday. I hope against Arsenal he can play.'
