The work of Chelsea, our global charity partner and a number of our African players has been recognised by the score4africa awards this week.

Following our success last year, Chelsea and Right To Play have again been shortlisted for the Partnership Award for our work in Africa, using sport to tackle conflict, poverty and disease.

Last year's People Choice winner Didier Drobga and runner-up Michael Essien have also been shortlisted for the award which recognises outstanding contribution.

Didier's work with the national team has also seen him shortlisted for the Peace Award, along with Salomon Kalou and the rest of the Ivory Coast squad for their work in helping to end civil war in their home country.

And to complete his hat-trick, Didier's newly formed Foundation has been shortlisted for the Health Award for his work raising funds to build a hospital in his home town of Abidjan.

Score4africa celebrates the power of football to transform lives in Africa, recognising innovation and best practice by offering awards to individuals, projects, or organisations that use football to drive development in Africa

Score4africa co-founder Ayo Ali welcomed Chelsea's contribution: 'It's no surprise really that Chelsea are really strong contenders for several score4africa awards this year.

'Chelsea 's African talent are key players in their team - Didier, Salomon, Mikel and Essien would be influential in any club.

'Also, there can be no doubting the club's commitment to using the power of football to transform lives considering their innovative partnership with Right to Play that is reaching hundreds of thousands of young Africans every year.'
