REACTION: WE COUNTER-ATTACKED WELL
It was Carlo Ancelotti's third meeting with the Gunners but his first win.
The Italian knew full well that only a good performance reaps rewards against the north Londoners, and that is what he watched today.
'If you win 3-0 away to Arsenal you have to do a good job,' explained Ancelotti. 'The defence did a fantastic job, all the players worked for the team. They worked to catch the ball in our midfield and it was there we won the game.'
The first half finished with two Chelsea goals, ending a tense period of football as Arsenal controlled the majority of possession, but one man put us ahead, thanks to some help from Ashley Cole.
'Arsenal kept the ball in the first half but we didn't concede an opportunity and when we counter-attacked we did very well and scored two goals.
'Drogba scored two goals and for me that is a good job. Not only for this but Drogba did a very good job in the second half coming back to defend in our half together with his other team mates.
'He maintained balance in our team. To have a balance is the most important thing. If you attack and you lose the balance it is not good, you concede a lot of counter-attacks.
'We didn't want to just use our physical quality; we wanted to use intelligence in defence. That's where we won the game. Arsenal put a lot in midfield and sometimes they lost the balance.'
Arsene Wenger had a slightly different view on the game and felt the referee's decision to disallow an Arsenal's goal early in the second half could have cost him three points.
'The score is a very unfair reflection of the game but it is the score and we cannot change it now,' said Wenger.
'We made mistakes but the referee got the turning point of the game wrong, although that doesn't mean we don't have to look at ourselves and why we conceded the goals.'
However, there was one thing he agreed with Ancelotti on: 'Drogba is a great player, he is very efficient.
'The freekick was a good freekick but the first goal he just went for it. It was a great goal but it was a goal from a striker who is in complete confidence.'
As we created an 11 point-gap between ourselves and Arsenal, albeit with one game more played, Ancelotti refused to concern himself with the teams' point differences. His only concern is whether the Blues keep winning.
'I prefer to think that they can stay on the top of the table and it's not so important whether or not Arsenal can become top, for me it is important that Chelsea continue to play like they played today.
'We know very well our possibilities, we can win every game but also if we don't have concentration we can lose every game.
'We have to pay attention now, we must keep our attention on our work.'
And there was one more piece of good news for Ancelotti today on top of beating Arsenal.
This afternoon the Blues drew Watford in the FA Cup, a side Ancelotti may not know too much about yet, but he's fully aware of the club, thanks to his favourite musician.
'I don't know Watford too well at the moment, but I will have the opportunity to learn.
'I know the owner of Watford is Elton John though. Elton John is my favourite singer.
'Hopefully the match there will be an opportunity to meet Elton John,' exclaimed Ancelotti.
