Nicolas Anelka is unavailable through injury and is replaced by Salomon Kalou who makes his 100th Chelsea start.
Michael Ballack replaces John Mikel Obi as the holding midfielder with Florent Malouda coming in on the left of the diamond. Joe Cole will play behind the strikers and there is return in defence for Ricardo Carvalho who makes his 200th Chelsea appearance.
Frank Lampard makes his 450th appearance with Didier Drogba registering his 150th Premier League appearance and Ashley Cole his 100th.
For West Ham, Matthew Upson returns in central defence in place of James Tompkins. Chelsea Academy product Frank Nouble is on the bench.
