Chelsea Ladies secured progression to the FA Women's Cup semi-finals this weekend with a tense 4-3 extra-time win over Aston Villa.

The Blues travelled to face the Midlanders the same day the senior men's team beat Stoke City at the Bridge, in a game that ended 2-2 at normal time.

Dunia Susi (pictured) twice put Chelsea in the lead with a brace of finely struck goals but Carly Davies replied both times to equalise for the hosts.

At the end of 90 minutes, the scores were level and so extra-time, and an exciting half-an-hour, ensued.

First Chelsea went back into the lead with a Leanne Champ penalty, which she converted inside the first minute of extra-time.

But five minutes later the scores were level once more when Emma Follis smashed in Villa's third.

Chelsea finally secured the win one minute into the second period of extra-time after another penalty.

Champ stepped forward to take the spot kick but it was saved. Instead the ball was parried into Rebecca Jane's path, who calmly slotted home from an acute angle.

It was the final goal of the game as Villa failed to reply for a fourth time on their home turf, giving the Ladies our second successive semi-final place.

Now we'll prepare to face Cup holders Arsenal in that semi-final clash on Sunday 4 April at Imber Court, the Ladies' home ground. Arsenal are a side who earned their place in the competition's penultimate round with a 5-0 thumping of Doncaster Rovers.

The other semi-final will see surprise weekend winners Barnet, who hosted Nottingham Forest for a 3-2 win, face Everton.

Both the Toffees and the Gunners won their weekend fixtures in the League, as both sides netted four goals each. Everton travelled for a 4-0 win over Watford while Arsenal hosted Blackburn for their 4-1 result.
