For everyone watching one man stood out as the Blues romped to a 4-1 derby win on Saturday.

Florent Malouda, returning to his usual attacking position following two starts at left-back and then one deeper in midfield, was quite simply on fire. Now he wants to produce the same performance on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman not only scored in the second half but assisted in the side's earlier goals, first by crossing for Alex to head home before doing the same at the other end for Didier Drogba.

In fact the performance evened spurred Carlo Ancelotti into admitting it was the best he'd seen from our number 15.

'I really enjoyed that game,' confessed Malouda after the final whistle. 'It was a good afternoon for me and the lads.

'After the disappointing loss against Man City it was important for us and for our fans to win that game. I was happy to come back into the offensive midfielder position and I simply tried to enjoy the game.'

Malouda's return to the attacking side of things certainly reaped rewards, as he delivered 16 crosses during his 86 minutes of football.

One of them found Drogba at the far post, which allowed the Ivorian to head Chelsea's second over the line. But Malouda had already spent much of the game releasing the Ivorian on the attack. Known for being close friends off the pitch, the relationship between Drobga and Malouda stood out on the pitch this weekend.

'This is of course good when it comes together,' said the 29-year-old. 'I know him [Drogba] very well; I know his movement and the kind of balls he likes to receive, so I was just trying to give him the ball as soon as possible and let him finish and score.'

With that partnership set to remain in place for Tuesday's Champions League clash, when Yury Zhirkov is expected to line up at left-back, Malouda believes the Blues have a renewed confidence going into the European fixture.

'It's definitely my natural position to attack but in the last few weeks I had to change because we had injuries and that was no a problem for me. I played at left-back and I tried to do my best.

'Now I'm back attacking. I would say it was more difficult to come back into this position because the space is much tighter and you have to make decisions quickly to score goals.

'But I will stay here, it is my position and it is good for the confidence for Tuesday. Now I think I can do the same on Tuesday as I did against West Ham.

'We have to start the game better than we did at the San Siro,' insisted the Frenchman.

'We have watched the other Champions League games and now we just want to be in the quarter-finals. So we have to do our best to go through. The best is still to come.

'We still have the possibility of winning three trophies, so it's time to show our quality. We are not trying to choose our competitions, we want to win everything.'
